"Maribor has a special meaning for me, because my roots, not only musical ones, are intertwined with it. That's why I look at this year's Festival Maribor very personally. It's as if I'm closing a circle of life, a circle of my own maturation, experiences and insights that have changed my outlook on life and music-making. 

This is also why I want to bring musical colleagues to Maribor with the karseda life programs, who have left a special impression on me through this maturation. Many of them could easily be called so-called stars, but they are rather stars on the inside and with a little less glitter serve similar views and music that I follow myself. These are musicians with a mission and great confessional power. Musicians who will be able to present this year's festival theme and message in a superb, but above all, authentically and vividly.' 

T as its artistic director, the internationally renowned clarinetist Mate Bekavac, said about the Festival Maribor 2024. The sensitive musician bets on depth and sincerity, but he doesn't like frameworks and pretentiousness, which is why at the concerts we will also enjoy the fiery Roma music and the melancholy of sevdah alongside the compositions of the classical repertoire. Jazz syncopations will surprise us, we will be entertained by a polka and a waltz. Bekavac believes that it is necessary music feel, not analyze. To open up and surrender to it and leave it to the gut, not the brain.
