Peter and the Wolf
Irena Kavčič is the principal flutist of the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra. As a soloist or principal flutist, she collaborates with orchestras such as the Mantua Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Leonore, Spira Mirabilis, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, the Haydn Philharmonic and the Teatro Olimpico Orchestra. She performs at many festivals and in prestigious halls, including Milan’s Scala, Vienna’s Konzerthaus and Musikverein, Madrid’s Auditorio Nacional de Música and Barcelona’s Palacio de Música, collaborating with musicians such as Alexander and Tommaso Lonquich, Pekka Kuusisto, Claudio Martínez Mehner, Niels Monkemeyer and Anneleen Lenaerts, as well as performing with the Zaïde Quartet.
Irena Kavčič teaches at the Ljubljana Academy of Music in the class of Prof. Karolina Šantl Zupan, with whom she herself graduated. After graduating, she furthered her studies with Jacques Zoon at the Reina Sofía School of Music and the International Institute of Chamber Music in Madrid.
