Jelena Jakovljević
Jelena Jakovljević is from the Serbian city of Niš, where she completed her secondary music school education. She then continued her studies at the Faculty of Music of the University of Arts in Belgrade, where she graduated in the flute in 2007 and received an award from the Jakov Srejović Foundation for the best graduate of her generation.

In 2016, she received her doctorate from the same university. In addition, she has attended masterclasses by eminent flutists such as Aurèle Nicolet, Emmanuel Pahud, Michael M. Kofler and James Galway. Since 2008, Jelena Jakovljević has been employed at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Niš, where she is currently an associate professor of flute. For two years, she served as principle flutist of the Niš Symphony Orchestra, after which she was often engaged as a part-time member. Since 2017, she has regularly performed with the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra from Podgorica and the Makris Symphony Orchestra from Belgrade, participating in many successful concerts with prominent conductors. As a soloist, she has performed on numerous occasions with the Niš Symphony Orchestra, and she regularly performs throughout Serbia and abroad and as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player, appearing at renowned music festivals such as the Days of Mokranjac, Nimus, Somus, Bemus, the Musica Riva Festival in Riva del Garda (Italy), the Autumn Music Festival in Skopje, and so on. Parallel to her career in classical music, Jelena Jakovljević has increasingly devoted herself to traditional Balkan music, especially the Bosnian folk music Sevdah. During this time, in addition to playing the flute, she developed a passion for singing and, after completing her formal studies, devoted herself to studying Sevdah. She established herself as a Sevdah singer, to which she also applies her knowledge of classical music. As a Sevdah singer, she has given a series of very successful solo concerts, collaborating with many renowned artists of this genre.
Her most notable concerts have been with musicians from the group Mostar Sevdah Reunion, Mustafa Šantić and Vanja Radoja, as well as renowned artists such as clarinetist Mate Bekavac and guitarist Boško Jović. She has performed the most famous Sevdah songs at music festivals in Slovenia and Serbia, such as NOMUS, SOMUS and NEO. Since 2017, Jelena Jakovljević has continued her vocal career as a member of the Belgrade Soul Sextet.
