Monika Trilar Babič has been the principal oboist of the Orchestra of the Slovene National Theatre Maribor since 2018.

Peter and the Wolf
She studied with oboist Prof. Emanuel Abbühl at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts. Prior to that, she obtained a master’s degree Summa cum laude from the Ljubljana Academy of Music in the class of Prof. Matej Šarc. As a dedicated performer of orchestral and chamber music, she has appeared with various ensembles in Slovenia and abroad, including several collaborations with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra and the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. With the latter ensemble, she also appeared as a soloist in a performance of Richard Strauss’s Oboe Concerto, for which she received the Student Prešeren Prize of the Ljubljana Academy of Music. Trilar Babič is a multiple recipient of golden plaques and first prizes at the Slovenian national TEMSIG competitions and has also won numerous competitions abroad. She regularly perfects her skills by participating in music festivals with internationally renowned musicians, including Maurice Bourgue. She enjoys working with young people, which is why she has been collaborating with Slovenian youth orchestras as a mentor for several years.
