Janez Krevel started his musical journey at the age of five with the diatonic accordion.

He then attended piano lessons at the Celje School of Music and experienced playing in an orchestra for the first time as a member of the tamboura orchestra Petrovi Tamburaši. At the age of fifteen, he became acquainted with the contrabass and soon after performed publicly for the first time in the Celje Music School Symphony Orchestra. He continued his education at the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet and studied for a short time at the Ljubljana Academy of Music, after which he decided to study at the Klagenfurt State Conservatory (today the Gustav Mahler Private University). In 2020, he completed the pedagogical part of his studies, in 2021 he concluded the artistic part, focusing on jazz contrabass. He is currently completing his master’s studies in classical contrabass.
Janez Krevel is a member of several ensembles and original projects. He collaborates in the Chamber String Orchestra of FB Banda, the Kontra-Alba project of Vita Mavrič and Jani Kovačič, the Jaka Pucihar Quintet, the Andrej Toplišek Quintet, the Bekavac- Leben-Krevel Trio, Magic Pond, the Peter Prohart Trio and the Maribor Jazz Standards Trio. He teaches at the Johann Joseph Fux Conservatory in Graz.
