The Sensitivity of the Balkans

He graduated as a clarinettist from the Sarajevo Academy of Music and music has always had a central place in his life. Although he received a thorough classical education and performed extensively with symphony orchestras, he became increasingly interested in the folk music of his own country, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and of the wider region. As an accomplished accordionist, he has a special love of Romanian and Bulgarian accordion music.

Mustafa Šantić was a member of the cult band Mostar Sevdah Reunion until 2008, and he still has fond memories of that period. He then went on to teach the clarinet at the Mostar Music School, where he has served as the director since 2017.
