Thomas Gansch

Thomas Gansch was born in St. Poltnu and grew up in Melk on the Danube, where he learned to play the trumpet from his father, Johann Gansch. At the age of fifteen, he went to Vienna, where he studied trumpet at the University of Music and Performing Arts.

During his studies, in 1992, together with his classmates, he founded the group Mnozil Brass. After six years of classical music, Gansch completed his studies in 1997 and devoted himself to his great love, jazz. In the years 1998-In 2006, he played in the legendary Vienna Art Orchestra, which he still describes as his real student days. He collaborates with many musicians from all over the world and has performed in almost 50 countries. He also writes music for various ensembles.

Thomas Gansch is not only one of the most versatile trumpeters of his generation, he is also always ready to entertain, being mischievous without losing sight of his center, the music.

His own projects are Mnozil Brass, Wieder, Gansch & Paul, Alpen&Gluhen, Schlagertherapie, Gansch & Breinschmid, Supergroup, Gansch & Roses, etc. He has also played with Patti Smith, Bob Brookmeyer, Vienna Art Orchestra, Don Menz, Jerry Hey Horns, Wynton Marsalis, Ensemble Janoska, Duo Igudesman & Jo, Kurt Ostbahn, Alhambra Salon Orchestra, Ensemble Pro Brass, Alegre Correa and many others.
