The original idea behind Art Kamp was to offer all visitors - not just the most active festival audience - a completely new and modern festival experience adapted to all generations. And although the range of activities has significantly expanded since its beginnings, the mission of the events remains the same – to connect the most diverse forms of art and knowledge through cultural education.

It is a festival of curiosity and creativity, delighting visitors – especially children and families – with culture, art, science, sports, recreation and entertainment. Through free workshops, participants are able to explore our heritage and traditional crafts as well as science and new technologies. It encourages its visitors to read books by promoting reading culture, sports, healthy eating and well-being. It teaches children to appreciate different cultures and raises awareness about vulnerable communities. It encourages children to grow into responsible, creative and mature individuals who will be able to overcome prejudices and build a open-minded and inclusive community. The festival pays a lot of attention to the environmental issues, ecological topics, recycling, and the reuse of materials, educating visitors on responsible waste management. It is also the first Slovenian festival to be awarded the "Zero Waste Event" certification with one star.
