The Maribor Concert Office (Koncertna poslovalnica Maribor), as the successor of the oldest concert office and the guardian of the valuable legacy of Musical Youth (Glasbena Mladina), is well aware of the importance of music education for children and young people and the responsibility that comes with it. Through the Youth Cycle, it ensured that concerts for young audiences have been continuously available in our city since 1965.

The Youth Cycle represents a series of concerts which function as musical lessons, featuring narrated concerts, that complement and enhance elementary and high-school education. It is intended for elementary and high school students and is divided into three age groups: Pizzicato for early elementary school students, Crescendo for middle elementary school students, and Furioso for upper elementary and high school students. With its diverse yet carefully selected concerts and musical and dance performances, this cycle fosters an interest in music, develops musical literacy, refines listening skills and taste, and cultivates a new generation of informed and critical classical music enthusiasts and future subscribers to the Chamber and Orchestral Cycles. Just as the great Leonard Bernstein taught and educated young audiences with his concert series in 50s, the creators of the Youth Cycle, in collaboration with esteemed Slovenian musicians, use modern methods and relevant content to present music history, genres, instruments, and ensembles in a relaxed, amusing, and educational way. They teach them about concert etiquette and entertain them with anecdotes and stories from and behind the concert stages. The Youth Cycle concerts offer a rare and valuable opportunity for direct engagement with high-quality live music and outstanding performances, especially in this digital era, where most young people experience music primarily through streaming services via headphones or smartphones.
