At the Maribor Regional Archives, students learn about the collection of various materials, especially old books. The groups are then introduced to the activities of the archive, particularly interesting examples of archival material (old postcards, photographs, parchment documents, urbarials and other manuscript books, building plans, etc.), the current exhibition, the work in the reading room, the archive warehouse and the bookmaking workshop.

This year’s theme is the Year of General Maister and the oldest books of Maribor, which the students will see and compare with contemporary ones, and then continue their work in the National House, where they will learn about the institution and create in a moustache workshop. They will also visit the exhibition ‘Narodni dom Maribor – Centre of cultural events since 1899’, which also touches on the founding of the National Council for Styria and the promotion of Rudolf Maister to General, which took place at the Narodni dom on 1 November 1918.
